Emerging Worlds
The Dutch Design Week 2021 was a trigger for us to open our studio to visitors so they could experience a new world, built by merging the disciplines of Space, Sound and Image.
Emerging Worlds is the first presentation of an ongoing process Creating Worlds. It is a dialogue of light and sound, resonating with spiral lines on tulle.
A co-creation arising from previous experiments in crossovers of different disciplines:
Textile design - Betje Stevens
Sound design - A//ard Krijger
Motion design - Mees van 't Hull
presented by B-A-M World, at Sectie-C Hal 8-20, Eindhoven
What’s there in 'Emerging Worlds'?
Translucent hangings of felted waves on tulle define the space. Video projections of motion graphics create an ever-changing surprising new dimension. Added to this mix are interacting sound improvisations so the visitor experiences a complex world of exciting, intertwining dimensions, deepening and inspiring. You interact in this light, sound and shadow play, by moving through the soundscape, between the canvases and the visual projections. Depending on the viewer's position and way of looking, they see lines connected to each other or they are casting wandering shadows themselves. In this way the public becomes the performers in this emerging world.
On show you experience a world that, depending on the light projections, continuously changes, controlled, supplemented or followed by the sound. Light and dark flowing from thin to heavy sounds. Subtle or bright color variations refined to softly screaming sounds. Constructed objects merging into organic forms illustrated by structured to chaotic sequences. A visual enchanted environmental experience and a fascinating spectacle of sound.
